For those of us who work from home, it is extremely important that we understand the necessity of self-motivation. We have no bosses telling us what to do, and no one keeping track of our daily activities except ourselves. Not only is there so much work that needs to be done, but so many other distractions that pull us away from that work. Keeping a balance on everything that makes a business grow can be overwhelming.
The best way to overcome the obstacle of staying on track is a daily strive for well-being. This is when you focus a portion of your day on your health in the areas of the body and the mind. This may sound kind of corny and unimportant on the surface, but it works at a much deeper level. Home-business owners who understanding these concepts find the missing puzzle pieces that they have been in search of to rev their businesses into high gear.
The Body
Your body is a living, breathing display of your physical attributes and health. You are only given one in life, and it should be treasured as the most precious gift ever been given to you. If you aren't in the habit of excercising every single day, you won't be able to achieve this area of well-being. A lot of people have a problem with this because it does not offer instant gratification. But over time, being unhealthy can have drastic results on all areas of your life.
The most difficult challenge for people with exercising is getting started. You don't have to be an athlete to excercise. Simply focus on doing more today that you did yesterday. Forcing yourself to go a little bit beyond your current level of action is the definition of success, so set small goals and set out to achieve them every day. Maybe it's walking an extra block outside on a nice day, or perhaps lifting another pound of weight at the gym. Every little bit helps.
The reason your physical body is important to your network marketing business is because it tells the world that you are either in charge of it or it is in charge of you. First impressions are important, and you want people to see you as a person who can tackle the obstacle of health. A leader doesn't look out of shape or depressed all the time, and they understand that the benefits of exercising go far beyond just making a person look good.
Keeping yourself in good shape also lifts your own spirit and self-confidence which comes across in everything you say and do. You will feel good about yourself on a daily basis and begin to believe you can achieve more. The small achievements you make with your body will begin to change your work habits without you even knowing it. If you are marketing weight loss or any kind of health product, your body should be a sample of what you are marketing.
The Mind
Your mind and ideas need to be exercised as much as your body. People who get stuck in a rut think that the education process ends with either high school or college. Isn't it interesting that most people can juggle the most activities when they are students? It's because their minds are in constant motion. You don't ever want to slow down that momentum just because you graduated and don't have to attend class at a school. Education should be an ongoing process.
Start keeping a daily journal of your ideas and your experiences. Write down your goals and your plans for achieving them. This will keep you motivated, reminded and excited that the journey to success begins with ideas. Your motivation will trigger a desire to set "homework" for yourself because you want to achieve. Getting a proper education in marketing should be a top priority for any network marketer.
Feeding your mind with ideas is extremely important for keeping momentum in your business. Ideas are where all of the action in your day come from, and the more ideas your mind invents, the more your chance for success. When you think like a leader, ideas have a better chance at coming to fruition. Simply following a "turn-key" program devised by someone else doesn't leave much room for your mind to grow. Start thinking "outside of the box" to get the process in motion.
If you work too hard on one of these, you will neglect the other and you won't have a good balance. Incorporate both into your daily activity with the same attention to time. If you can shift things around to find an extra hour each day, excercise for a half-hour and then spend the other half-hour writing ideas into a journal. This way the outside of you will become a good reflection of the inside of you and vice versa.
After you get a little comfortable with your new activities, bump it up a notch to make yourself just a little bit stronger and a little bit more creative. The stronger you get, the stronger you will make others and you will see your business begin to move. People in your organization will only do as much as they see you doing, if not less. You have the ability to help them succeed by empowering them to have their own well-being.
